Hochsicherheits-Handy kommt mit Sailfish OS anstatt Android

Das Unternehmen Turing Robotic Industries (TRI) hat nun ankündigt, das das Hochsicherheits Smartphone Turing Phone nun im April diesen Jahres ausgeliefert wird - und damit vier Monate später als ursprünglich geplant.

Aber als wäre das nicht schon Hiobsbotschaft genug, kündigt das Unternehmen sogleich an, statt auf das etablierte Android von Google, auf Sailfish OS von Jolla setzen zu wollen - jener Firma, die derzeit immer wieder mit Finanzproblemen in die Schlagzeilen geraten ist.

Das Turing Phone kommt im mit recht soliden, wenn auch leicht veralteten Spezifikationen daher: Angetrieben von einem Snapdragon 801 mit vier Mal 2,5 GHz verfügt das Gerät über 3 GB Arbeitsspeicher. Es werden drei verschiedene Speichergrößen angeboten: 16 GB, 64 GB und 128 GB, erweiterbar ist der Speicher nicht. Das Display ist 5,5 Zoll groß und löst in Full-HD auf. Die Kameras bieten eine Auflösung von 13 beziehungsweise 8 Megapixeln. Diverse sicherheitsspezifische Hardware-Merkmale runden das Paket in einem Rahmen aus der Liquidmorphium genannten Speziallegierung ab. Sailfish OS 2.0 kommt mit einer speziellen Benutzeroberfläche von Turing daher.

The Turing Phone will still be able to run Android Apps on the Sailfish OS without issue. An Android application store will be available for you to download your favorite apps.

The Sailfish OS is an evolved continuation of the Linux MeeGo OS previously developed by an alliance of Nokia and Intel. MeeGo mobile software platform was created through the merging of Moblin and the Maemo OS originally developed by Nokia.

This essentially means you have one of the world’s fastest mobile device running the fastest mobile OS with the capability of running your favorite apps in a secure environment.

TRI will also be hosting its first Turing Developers Conference (TDC) during Q2 2016.
