Vielleicht schon im iPhone 5? Brennstoffzelle als Energiequelle für mobile Geräte [Patente]

Die beiden vor kurzem von der US Patent & Trademark Behörde veröffentlichten Patente mit den Titeln "Fuel cell system coupled to a portable computing device” und "Fuel cell system to power a portable computing device” sollen das größte Problem mit der Umsetzung der Technologie für mobile Geräte lösen:

One of the patent applications describes a "fuel cell system which is capable of both providing power to and receiving power from a rechargeable battery in a portable computing device. This eliminates the need for a bulky and heavy battery within the fuel cell system, which can significantly reduce the size, weight and cost of the fuel cell system.”

Das Ergebnis dieser Forschung: iPhones (und andere Geräte) müssten erst nach Tagen oder Wochen wieder aufgeladen (oder "nachgetankt”) werden. Ein solcher Durchbruch im Bereich der Batterien könnte den Markt wieder einmal kräftig aufrütteln.
