When ProtonMail beta launched one month ago, so many people requested ProtonMail accounts that we were forced to implement a waiting list. We have received account requests from around the globe: from China to North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. The world is ready for privacy.

We want to provide free ProtonMail accounts to everyone so people can protect themselves from the mass surveillance perpetrated by governments and corporations worldwide. This is only possible if we can keep ProtonMail independent, and beyond the reach of corporate interests.
